Stampin' Up Beautiful Bouquet

I haven't taken much time to stamp this summer but I had to make time to create a card for a special person.  Growing up, Aunt Beulah lived next door to me.  We will be celebrating her 90th birthday this weekend and we've been asked to share out favorite memories of Beulah.  One of my many memories is of summertime and my sweet aunt tending to all of the flowers bordering her house and fenceline.  For some reason I specifically remember the Portulaca flowers that she always grew.  I don't have a Portulaca stamp (shocking!)  but I do have this new stamp set from Stampin' Up called Beautiful Bouquet.  I followed a past sketch from Mojo Monday which, I'm sad to say, is not longer holding challenges.

Water Lillies Thanks

I made this card following the "case the designer" challenge at Global Design Project found HERE.  I "cased" Michelle's layout and had intended to make mine clean and simple but I have a hard time keeping white space white!  This card was made with the same stamp set as my previous post but this time I just did the multi layering stamps, no color pencils.

Happy Birthday Water Lilly

This card was created for the sketch challenge at The Paper Players found HERE. I have finally inked up a Hero Arts stamp set I got several months ago and I tried out a new technique.  These stamps are multi layering stamps but I only used two layers of stamps.  I stamped with two light pink colors and used those colors to get a sense of the outline and shading of the water lilly.  Then I colored in the flower with color pencils.....time consuming but fun! The Lilly pads were just stamped and the water streaks were created swiping my ink pad using a direct to paper technique.

Wishing You Brighter Days

I used inspiration from two challenges for this card.  The sketch is from Try Stampin' On Tuesday blog found HERE. The color inspiration was found at Hand Stamped Sentiments blog HERE.  Thank goodness for the creative people who come up with the sketches and color combos.  Without those imaginative people I would just sit at my desk, stare at my craft supplies and eat chips.

Sparkly Daisy

Here is a card I made for two challenges, a color challenge at Color Throwdown and a sketch challenge at Mojo Monday.

I made the focal element by die cutting the daisy tag and gluing it to a piece of Stampin' Up's Window Sheet. I turned the piece over and colored the back side with Sharpies.  A generous layer of Crystal Effects was spread over the back side and Dazzling Diamonds glitter was sprinkled over top.  A piece of tissue paper was put on top of the glitter and on top of that a piece of white cardstock.  When all of the layers dried I carefully trimmed away the excess Window Sheet, tissue and cardstock using the tag edge as my guide.

I love the bright, happy colors and the gorgeous sparkle!

PAPER: Basic Gray, Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise, Cucumber Crush, Whisper White, Vellum, Window Sheets

Orchids for Emmy

Dropping in to show you a card I made for my mother-in-law, Emmy. She is the best MIL, a great role model and she is wonderful with orchids!

I used the sketch at Fusion Card Challenge found HERE.  The sentiment was stamped on the colored orchid and then die cut out of the panel. I made five more diecuts with plain white cardstock and stacked the diecut before putting back into place.

Just Add Orchids

Here is a card I created for the Just Add Ink sketch challenge found HERE.  This is my first time coloring with the Zig Real Color Brush Pens and WOW! They really lay out a lot of vibrant color!  Theses orchids turned out much brighter than I was going for so I left the rest of the card mostly neutral. I tried to color my white taffeta ribbon with the Zig brush pens but the color was not very even so I used my Copic markers to match.

Stampin' Up Tasty Trucks

Here is a card I am submitting to the Stampin' Up Only Challenges blog. The challenge is to simply use an item from this year's Sale-a-bration catalog so I made this card with the Tasty Treats stamp set. I love the different treats you can add to the truck window!  I've shown two close-up variations below.

The ice cream cones looked funny to me floating in the air so drew a stand to hold the cones.  Then the "cone stand" looked strange to me so I added glue from the Fine Tip Glue pen and smeared in some Pool Party ink with a toothpick.  That was a bit of a fussy detail but the added detail allowed to me sleep that night!

STAMPS: Tasty Trucks
INK: Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party, Peek-boo Peach, Watermelon Wonder, Crumb Cake
PAPER: Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz, Tasty Treats DSP
OTHER: Fine Tip Glue Pen, Pool Party Thick Bakers Twine
