You've Got This? Not Really.

I love the inspiration picture at The Paper Players theme challenge this week. We are asked to create a card with the theme Autumn Floral and I knew right away I wanted to put the rustic wooden planter on my card. I had to fiddle a little while to get the angle right and then to get the wood grain going the "right" way. After staring at it for a good 20 mins I decided to draw the box outline and then, finally, I was happy with it. Let me tell you, filling the planter was not any easier!  So many options, flower stamps and looks!  Even now, after I've deemed the card complete, photographed and prepared it to post, I see I want to mess with the position of the flowers some more. SIGH, oh well. This card will be at my next card class so I will make another one myself and play around with it a bit more.

The Paper Players Challenge can be found HERE.  I'm also entering this card in the challenge at TGIF Challenges found HERE. The challenge there is a Tic-Tac-Toe and my card is represented in the diagonal, Watercolor-Designer Series Paper-Metallics.

Tie Dye Blast From The Past

Here is a card for a fun challenge at SUO Challenges which can be found HERE.  The theme is Blast from the Past and that makes me think of tie dye....although tie dye seems to be past, present and future!
I used a coffee filter, twisted it and rubber banded it just like you would a t-shirt.  There are many instructions on the web but HERE is one example.  I then used an Aquapainter with three colors of reinkers, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo.  I saturated the coffee filter with the ink in three sections making sure the section overlap to create the secondary colors. I showed this to my 13 year old daughter this week and it looks like we will be buying some dies and a t-shirt this weekend:-)

STAMPS: Custom Tee, Big on Birthday, Crazy About You
INK: Basic Black, Versamark, Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo
PAPER: Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Whisper White, white coffee filter
OTHER: T-Shirt Builder Framelits, Happy Birthday Thinlit, White EP, Metallic Enamel Shapes

I made a few more, less fussy, tie dye backgrounds to offer at my class this weekend.

Back To School Bike Ride

Here is a card that was inspired by two challenges. The first is a Back to School theme challenge from the Paper Players seen HERE.  My color inspiration was found at Stamps Ink Paper Challenges seen HERE.
This is such a fun stamp set to play with!  I like the stamps that are designed to "color in" the line art stamps. They provide a different option to watercoloring or coloring with markers.  The stamp set and dies give several options for decorating the bike so I made a second card with a bit more going on!

STAMPS: Bike Ride, Teeny Tiny Wishes
INK: Basic Gray, Smoky Slate, Bermuda Bay, So Saffron
PAPER: Smoky Slate, Bermuda Bay, So Saffron, Whisper White
OTHER: Build-a-Bike Framelits, Artisan Label, Garden Trellis EF, Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon

Stampin' Up Beautiful Bouquet

I haven't taken much time to stamp this summer but I had to make time to create a card for a special person.  Growing up, Aunt Beulah lived next door to me.  We will be celebrating her 90th birthday this weekend and we've been asked to share out favorite memories of Beulah.  One of my many memories is of summertime and my sweet aunt tending to all of the flowers bordering her house and fenceline.  For some reason I specifically remember the Portulaca flowers that she always grew.  I don't have a Portulaca stamp (shocking!)  but I do have this new stamp set from Stampin' Up called Beautiful Bouquet.  I followed a past sketch from Mojo Monday which, I'm sad to say, is not longer holding challenges.

INK: Berry Burst, Flirty Flamingo, Fresh Fig, Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive, Melon Mambo, Powder Pink
