Pineapple is Good

Time for another blog post, time for another challenge, time for another....pineapple card!  The challenge theme at SUO Challenges is Summer Celebrations and you can find it HERE.    My summer celebration this year will be in Florida and on a Disney cruise, so I hope to be sipping up some delicious pineapple drinks!  This card is also made for my friend whose summer celebration is retirement, hence the sentiment Life is Good.

Before inking up my stamp I brushed a couple of drops of water on a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and set it aside to dry.  I then inked up the lower part of my pineapple with Delightful Dijon. I used a Chocolate Chip marker and ran it along all of the lines of the pinapple and around the lower edges. I had to "clean the marker often by scribbling it on scrap paper to remove all of the Delightful Dijon ink that was contaminating the Chocolate ink. By the time I had the stamp prepared the paper was dried enough to prevent the stamp from bleeding outside of the stamped area but damp enough to blend the two colors.  To blend the colors more I used a damp, clean Aquapainter in each section. The top half of the pineapple was stamped the same way with Old Olive and an Always Artichoke marker.
The word "good" was pieced together with letters from words in the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits set.  The straw was made from a plastic lollipop stick colored with a Sharpie.

STAMPS: Pineapple, Full of Life
INK: Delightful Dijon, Chocolate Chip (marker), Old Olive, Always Artichoke (marker), Night of Navy
PAPER: Pear Pizzaz, Night of Navy, Pool Party, Shimmery White, Melon Mambo
OTHER: Sunshine Wishes Thinlits, Petal Burst EF, Linen Thread

Sweet Pineapple

I hope everyone likes pineapples because I have a few cards to post over the next several days with Stampin' Up's new Pineapple stamp. I made this card for the challenge at Tic Tac Toe Challenges found HERE.  I choose the left column of  Yellow, Word Play and Inlaid Design.

I am very pleased at how pretty the stamp turns out with little effort. I've been able to get nice ink coverage with just stamping in a single color but I like to add a bit of interest by adding another color with an Aquapainter.  This time I stamped with Crushed Curry and watercolored some of the sections with Peek-a-Boo Peach. The top was stamped with Old Olive and watercolored with more Old Olive.

On the first card the word was inlaid with a die cut of Crushed Curry.  On the second card I used the die cut from the pineapple image and layered it on top of two white die cuts before setting it back on the image.

STAMPS: Pineapple, Sunshine Sayings
INK: Crushed Curry, Peek-a-Boo Peach, Old Olive, Elegant Eggplant
PAPER: Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, Crushed Curry
OTHER: Frantic Stamper die- Sweet, Curvy Keepsake Thinlit, 5/8" Burlap Ribbon, 1/8" Bermuda Bay Striped Ribbon, 1 1/8" circle punch

Sunset Bird

Another quick post to get a card submitted in time. This card was made with inspiration from three different challenges.  The first bit of inspiration came from the "Just Us Girls" Challenge blog and the challenge is birds.  That's perfect because I just received a new stamp set from Stampin' Up called Best Birds.  The next challenge was found at Stamp, Ink, Paper and the inspiration was sunsets.  Finally, the perfect sketch was found at Pals Paper Arts.  I love getting ideas on these challenge sites because I would have never come up with most of my cards on my own!  Hope you like it.  This will be one of the cards offered at my "card buffet" class this weekend.

Another quick post to get this card in for the color challenge at Fab Friday.  You can see the challenge by clicking HERE.  Love this color combo, thanks for the inspiration!
